Dear Friends,
I’m writing with some exciting news, I’ve been named one of Wine Business Monthly’s 2025 Wine Industry Leaders for my advocacy work to protect and promote Napa Valley’s micro-wineries.
And while this recognition focuses on what we’ve done, it’s even more important to reflect on why we do what we do here at Elkhorn Peak.
Everything we do is rooted in a belief that small, family-run farms matter. In an era defined by the corporate takeover of agricultural land, we believe in a different vision, one that challenges the status quo. We do that by nurturing the kind of connection only small producers can authentically create:
- Sharing complete transparency into everything we do in the vineyard and at the farm
- Bringing you into our winemaking decisions instead of forcing you to embrace scores and trends
- Making choices for the longevity of the family farm rather than chasing the highest profit
And along the way… we just happen to make great wine.
This way of thinking belongs in the wine industry. Our mission has always been to preserve Napa Valley’s small-farm heritage; to remind people that this valley was built by families.
Being named a 2025 Wine Industry Leader brings credibility to that vision and sends a clear message to the broader industry: micro-wineries deserve not only a seat at the table but a voice in shaping its future.
The editors who selected this year’s honorees wrote that leadership in 2025 means “bucking trends, finding innovative solutions, and giving the wine industry hope for the future.” That sentiment perfectly captures what drives us: a belief that small, family-run wineries lead with authenticity, craftsmanship, and heart don’t just belong in Napa Valley; they define it.
I see this acknowledgment as a spark for what’s ahead…
The road for small producers has never been easy, but passion and persistence can create real change. I’ll continue to charge forward until Napa Valley fully embraces its micro-wineries as an essential part of its fabric, carving out lasting space and opportunity for small family farmers, and to expand that mission to other winegrowing regions across California.
So, this isn’t just my celebration, it’s yours too. You’ve helped keep small farming alive in Napa Valley by supporting Elkhorn Peak, by championing other micro-producers, and by believing in the why behind our work.
From our entire family and the micro-winery community, thank you for being part of this purpose and for giving us the chance to keep doing what we love most. Keep drinking the good stuff, and cheers to what’s ahead.
With tremendous gratitude,
Elise Nerlove
